About the Toothache Spilanthes Seed Pack
TOOTHACHE SPILANTHES | id:50572 | Spilanthes Official | Ecologically grown | Annual/self-seeds | Open Pollinated
Native to Brazil, it has antibacterial and immune-stimulating effects. Its ability to provide a tingling and subsequently numbing sensation makes it a good treatment for tooth pain and mouth irritation. Its leaves are utilised in cooking due to its zesty lemon flavour. Sort of like the herbal equivalent of pop rocks candies, only stronger, with a surge of saliva that feels like waterfall rapids and high voltage static electricity dancing around your mouth.
Planting tip: Seed stratification is required for 2-3 weeks. Sow seed indoors starting 3-4 weeks before the last frost, and transplanting after the frost. The average germination time is 10 days.
Harvesting tip: Once the plant grows several inches tall, you can harvest the leaves at any time. Fresh leaves are ideal. The flowers have the maximum concentration of the anaesthetic action. Harvest spilanthes bloom at any time of year. Deadhead flowers to induce additional blooming. Flowers retain their numbing properties when dried, although they are most strong when fresh.
