21 days baby, 50 days full-size. Sweet tender leaves with high frost tolerance. Blue green leaves get sweeter in cold weather. Original Breeder: Frank Mortan of Wild Garden Seeds and release through open source seed initiative. Tolerates wet soil.
Companion plants: Potato, Beets, Lettuce, Chard, Peas, Alliums, Radish, Spinach, Celery, Cucumber, Aromatic herbs.
Far from: Tomato, Strawberry, Grape, Rue.
Planting tip: Soaking in warm water for up to 12H is recommended for improved germination. Direct sow as soon as the soil can be worked. It can be started indoors 4 weeks before the planting date. For fall plantings sow 2 months before first expected frost.
Harvesting tip: Harvest at the desired size. Flavor sweetens with light frost.
Storage tip: Cooling in water after harvest recommended. It can be stored in the refrigerator for a few weeks.
