3-4’ tall plants. Dark blue flowers with long racemes. Long-stemmed flower spikes that are often used as cutflowers or dried arrangement. .
Companion plants: Sunflowers, Hollyhocks, Tall ornamental grasses, Joe Pye weed, Foxgloves, Cosmos, Roses, Coreopsis, Salvia, Catmint.
Far from: Peas, Ferns, Orchids, Cacti, Succulents, Mosses.
Planting tip: Seed stratification is required for 2 weeks. Sow directly outside early spring. Germination require darkness. Seed won’t germinate above 13 °C. Plants require vernalization to bloom, at least six weeks of 10 °C of optimal °T. Tap rooted plants, doesn’t transplant well.
Harvesting tip: Harvest flower when 2-3 basal flowers are open on up to 1/3 of stem
