About the Siltepecana Monstera   Like other Monstera species, it is a vining plant and as it matures, develops holes in its leaves. Especially in immature foliage, it has distinctive silver venation. Although often called a 'philodendron', this plant is not part of the philodendron family. Light: Moderate to low indirect light Water: Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering.  After watering, make sure the plant drains fully. Do not allow the plant to sit in water for more than an hour as this will cause root rot. Monsteras also benefit from the occasional misting. Your Monstera's large leaves will accumulate dust overtime, which interferes with the flow of carbon dixoide into the plant and the resulting outflow of oxygen into the room. Clean the leaves by placing one hand under the leaf and with your other hand gently wipe the surface using a damp microfiber cloth. Keeping your plant regularly free of dust as part of your plant care routine is not only great for the plant, but also for you! Difficulty: Easy Feed: Apply half strength of general-purpose fertilizer once a month at most during the growing season. Monstera are low maintenance plants and do not require a lot of supplementary feeding.  Air Purifying: Yes, known to remove formaldehyde from the air. Toxicity: Toxic to animals and humans. Growth Rate: Moderate Common Names: Silver Monstera, Swiss cheese plant Origin: Central America *Please note: Plants may not look exactly as shown. Please note that receiving a plant with a few split leaves already will be subject to availability.
